The Camping Checklist

Print it, tick it, forget nothing.

Shelter

• Tent, poles, stakes, guylines, footprint
• Mallet (for family tents), spare stakes, repair kit
• Tarp for shade or a dry kitchen

Sleep

• Sleeping bag rated for the night temperature, sleeping pad or air mattress, pillow
• Pump and repair patches for air mattresses

Kitchen

• Stove, fuel, lighter (and a spare), pot, pan, cutlery, mugs
• Water bottles or a water carrier, filter or tablets for wild water
• Food, coffee, cool box, washing-up bowl, biodegradable soap, rubbish bags

Clothes

• Rain jacket and trousers, warm layer, hat, spare socks
• Camp shoes, sun hat

Light and power

• Head torch with spare batteries, lantern, power bank

Health and safety

• First-aid kit, personal medication, sunscreen, insect repellent
• Map, phone, emergency contact details; carbon-monoxide alarm for heated tents

Leave no trace

• Take all rubbish home, use existing fire pits, and leave the place cleaner than you found it.
